When we’re coaching executives or sales teams — especially for presentations, media interviews, or keynote speeches — there’s a common habit we see.
Men, especially, will plant their feet wide apart and then start to lean while delivering their message.
So we encourage them to walk.
That leaning is really just the body’s attempt to move.
The big protest is always:
“Well, you can’t walk and talk at the same time.”
Oh yes, you can.
You do it all the time.
Watch television — news anchors walk and talk constantly.
You can do it too. Just try it and see how much freedom you gain.
When you walk, you can connect with this side of the room…
then the middle…
Then the left side.
You engage more of your audience.
And frankly, you’re far more interesting when you walk and talk at the same time.
Yes — it can be done.
Try it.
